To export comments from HitSend to Pro Tools, selecting the track you wish to download comments for and load it in the player screen. On the right side in your comments tool bar to download comments. Select Pro Tools and input the tempo of the to map the markers with the timeline in your session. Next, click download and make sure your web browser isn’t blocking downloads from HitSend.

Import the downloaded MIDI file by selecting File, input, and then choosing MIDI, or by simply dragging and dropping the file onto the bottom of your session where there are no tracks (shown below).

A pop up should appear about the MIDI file. Leave the destination as New Track, (MIDI track) and select where you’d like the start of the timeline to be.

If you’re session starts at 0:00, then leave the location as Start of Session. If your session does not start at the beginning, you can have the start be where your selection marker is (you will have to have selected the location before starting the import of the MIDI file), or you can choose “Spot” which will bring up another box that you can type in the exact instance to start the timeline on.

Once you have selected your method click “Ok” and the comments will appear on your timeline. Cursor over the marker and hover there and it should appear for you, or double click to open a window and view the comment.

Make sure you have the marker view selected in your session or else the markers will not appear on your timeline. To do this click on View on the top bar, then choose “rulers” and make sure that there is a check mark by “Markers”.

If there are 2 or more comments with the same timestamp, the markers will be stacked and you will need to drag them apart on the timeline to see each marker.

NOTE:

If you’re having trouble importing comments into Pro Tools, note that you must not have any markers on your timeline already for this to work effectively.
