HitSend is proud to offer Flawless audio playback for up to 48x better audio quality than other popular file platforms such as Dropbox and Google Drive.

The one drawback to Flawless audio is that files are much larger which leads to longer load times. We understand that not everyone may have a top of the line internet connection or unlimited mobile data, so we give you and your clients the option to choose your playback quality in the Regular Hi-Fidelity player.

Audio Quality Options

Is there really such a big difference between different quality types? Take a look at the following images and you tell us. For reference, each line represents where a digital sample takes place, and shows what an audio waveform would look like based on the quality.

Flawless audio is full WAV and AIFF quality without downgrading or encoding your audio, and is music in its purest form.

Lossless audio utilizes the FLAC format, which compresses the files size and then digitally recreates the audio. This reduces the file size to approximately 60% of an Flawless WAV files.

Compressed audio most commonly uses MP3, AAC, and OGG file formats and is used by most popular file transfer and streaming services to save on bandwidth costs, but this can introduce errors and artifacts in the playback. In order to get the smaller file size, low and hi end frequencies are removed, which can cause transients to be undefined and smeared, poor stereo imaging, distortion of louder tracks, and in extreme cases random pops and crackles. These errors are most noticeable in tracks with large dynamic and frequency ranges as this requires more data, but no track is immune if the algorithm cuts out part of the data to make files smaller.

NOTE:

If a WAV or AIFF file is uploaded, HitSend creates a FLAC and an AAC copy of the original file for playback to ensure that the original file is never compromised.
