The Gapless Player is one of two custom built players on HitSend, and is optimized for reviewing and approving masters. It’s the first web based Gapless player that’s meant to replace DDP players for client review.

Unlike DDP Players HitSend doesn’t restrict your audio quality and NEVER downgrades or compresses your audio quality meaning clients can stream 32 bit 192kHz tracks with any device for up to 48x better quality than what you’re used to.

Not only does the HitSend play give you the best audio quality possible.

Workflow Tip

You can lock your phone and the audio will keep playing. It will even go through all the tracks in the playlist with out having to unlock your phone.

NOTE:

The Gapless player is only compatible with WAV. files that all have the same sample rate and will not let you advance to the player screen if these conditions are not met.

Gapless Player Overview

Load In

Just as the name Gapless suggests, there is no space between files, not even micro seconds of load time as each file is stitched together back to back so clients will hear the exact spacing of tracks just like they would on a CD. This does cause for a longer initial load time as the entire project has to buffer before playback can begin. While this occurs you will see the loading screen shown below, and the loading progress will be updated as it progresses. Once the Gapless player has loaded there will be no additional buffering time and you can instantly skip to any track, or scrub through a tracks timeline without any consequences.

Waveform

Once the Gapless player has loaded you will enter the player page. At the top of the player page is the track waveform, showing the dynamics of the audio, as well as how far you have listened on the track. Move throughout the track by clicking on the place you would like to jump to, or use the player controls at the bottom to skip back to the start of the track.

Tracklist

Select section

Choose a region of the waveform for comments, or to loop a section by clicking and dragging the region you wish to select on a desktop device, or by dragging over the section on a touch device. Once the region is selected, you can resize the selection with the orange handles to expand or shrink the region. To remove the selection, simply click or tap outside the selection on the region, or use the "Clear" button located at the top of the screen.

Metadata Display

The Gapless player parses each file and displays the metadata for review to further streamline the record approval process. In the Gapless Player, you can check the following metadata by selecting the tap labeled "Details":

  • Title

  • Genre

  • Artist

  • Featuring

  • Album

  • Album Artist

  • Composer

  • Writer

  • Lyricist

  • Engineer

  • Producer

  • Mixer

  • Label

  • ISRC

  • Language

  • Mood

  • Date

  • BPM

Streamline Feedback and Review

Timecoded feedback can be collected for each track on right right hand side of the screen as clients can leave their thoughts and revision requests without the messy email or text chains. This feedback can then be downloaded and imported as MIDI markers in Pro Tools, Logic, Studio One, or Cubase as well as being available in a plain text format.

With the HitSend Gapless Player, you don't have to explain to your clients how to use a DDP player, or have your masters downgraded to an inferior quality while streamlining the record approval process to save you time and headaches.
